Japanese Egg Molds

We've got a lot of new items coming in this summer, including the latest Japanese food trend- these adorable egg molds! ETA July 20th.

New Shipment!

We're now getting in shipments about once every two weeks. Our latest brought in a great line of deep sea blue Japanese porcelain, embossed with dragonflies. Giftboxed tea sets, sushi sets, sake and mug sets just in time for Christmas!

Our chefs were raving about our new Japanese Ceramic knives so we had to try it for ourselves! The verdict? It makes sashimi prep effortless (skinning & deboning). We also tried cutting a variety of things, and the biggest surprise was how well it cuts Tomato (like butter). Goodbye serated knife!

Favourite Things

We know it's been an incredibly long time since we've posted a blog, but I had to highlight some of our favourite things that have been coming in this spring and summer.

We sell a lot of wonderful Japanese mandolins... but this is the first one we carried which the handle turns into a juicer!

We also got in a huge assortment of Japanese cups, all beautifully glazed.
We also brought in traditional lacquer Japanese rice boxes, which would be great as decor on a console or mantle. $47 SRP.

A fine example of Japanese pottery: my new favourite bowl with gorgeous matte and glossy glazed blue grey, alabaster and chocolate colours. This stunning bowl is only $16SRP (6.5"d deep bowl)

New Shipment!

We are all IN LOVE with the items from our new shipment. My personal favourite- these delicious wasabi green porcelain dishes with indigo blossoms and cherry blossom chopsticks. It reminds me that spring is around the corner during these bleary winter months and storms.Another new favourite- these Japanese bowls that have been glazed individually with such care to reflect nature. I'm reminded of moss, stone, indigo pacific waters and parsnip vegetables.

When we all opened this new Japanese knife, we all gasped because it was so beautiful! Firstly, it showcases beautiful Japanese packaging in this glimmering gold box, lined with rice paper. Secondly, the beauty of the craftmanship on the knife is stunning.This is going to be another new favourite- this brushed gold finished lidded tin canister from Japan. This is going to be a great tin for tea shops and households that want to add their own labels on a high quality tin.
We have never had a cooler knife. Literally! This new Pro-M Japanese knife was made from ice hardened molybdenum stainless steel, making it razor sharp yet extra strong.

New Melamine Shipment!

Go ahead- do a double take! We did too. You're actually looking at some of our new Taiwanese melamine dishes from our latest shipment, which wont break even if you drop it on the floor! It can even withstand temperatures between +120ºC and -30ºC.

New Shipment!

A new shipment has just arrived at HKI. One of our favourite new arrivals- this gorgeous gold-flecked bronze Unaju box from Japan (for barbeque eel over rice), decorated with gold wheat. We've also replenished a lot of kitchenware & cast iron tea sets.






We also recently unveiled a new line of Japanese Knives. They are quite like the Seki Ryu line we carry but by a different brand called Sekizo. You can view the whole line here.
